Reconstitution

The reconstitution shelf is the inert side of the catalogue. Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is the canonical diluent for lyophilised research peptides: sterile water for injection with 0.9% benzyl alcohol added as a bacteriostatic preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits growth of common contaminants in the reconstituted vial, allowing the same vial to be drawn from across multiple research timepoints without compromising the assay.

Most peptides in the Aero Peptides catalogue are shipped lyophilised and require reconstitution at the bench. The volume of BAC water selected determines the working concentration; researchers typically choose a volume that lets a U-100 insulin syringe deliver the target dose at a convenient unit count. A few practical notes: BAC water is not appropriate for neonatal use (the benzyl alcohol carrier is the reason), which doesn’t apply to research preparations but is worth flagging. The shelf-life of reconstituted vials at 2–8°C is typically ~28 days for most peptide chemistries; the copper-coordinated and thiol-bearing compounds (GHK-Cu, glutathione) have shorter windows. Sterile water for injection without preservative is the alternative when a research protocol specifically requires it, but in the absence of that constraint BAC water is the default choice across the field.
